Wanted: You!

I want you!I’ve got a very targeted audience in mind for this blog. I’m writing for young engineers who have graduated within the last five years, or who are still in school. I’m writing for passionate, intelligent, driven people. This blog is written for those who want to get ahead, for those who want to make a difference in their work place, and for those who want to earn the recognition of their superiors and their peers.

So, why am I looking for you specifically? First and foremost, I think it’s important to be writing to somebody in particular. If you don’t have an audience in mind when you’re writing, then you end up writing for no one. More specifically though, I want to write for the kinds of people I hang out with, the kinds of people I understand. That way, I know you’ll get it. I can’t fake knowing how a senior VP’s mind works, but I can definitely relate to my peers.

Part of the idea behind this blog is to build a community. My hope is that the more A-player people who show up on my virtual doorstep and hang around for a while, the more other A-players will be interested in coming by for a visit. I like to think that I have a lot to offer the people who come by, but I’m confident that a congregation of engineering all-stars can do a heck of a lot more.

If you see in yourself a desire to become a leader, and you want to learn more about leadership and engineering, welcome! You’ve found a good place to kick up your feet. If you know your friends would like this, tell them about it! The more the merrier. Also, if you have ideas on what you’d like to learn about, or things you’d like to contribute, let me know!
